His mother, Emak Icih, was known as a vegetable trader in the local market, while his father, Lamhidun, was a veteran soldier who once served during the Dutch colonial era in the KNIL military unit.
After the passing of his parents, Deni Nurdiani began developing the inherited land and decided to pursue a career in the tourism and hospitality industry. His first business venture in Batukaras was the establishment of a traditional restaurant called Dapoer Kampoeng, which was founded in 2016. The restaurant focuses on traditional Indonesian and Sundanese cuisine, offering visitors an authentic culinary experience that highlights local flavors and cooking traditions.
Encouraged by the positive response from tourists visiting the restaurant, Deni Nurdiani expanded his business into the accommodation sector. In 2018, after securing investment support, he officially developed Lagoona Beach Bungalows as a boutique eco-resort. The project was supported by his nephew, Purnama Siliwangi, who contributed his expertise in information technology by managing the resort’s website, social media presence, and digital promotion. He also assisted in the visual and conceptual design of the resort.
Interestingly, the architectural inspiration for the bungalow design partly came from Deni Nurdiani’s experiences traveling abroad. During his stay in the United States, he visited several places in Texas, which influenced his ideas about rustic architecture, natural materials, and relaxed outdoor living spaces.
